OsterGolden A5 Clipper with #10 Blade

I use this clipper to groom my cocker spaniels. Clipping 2 dogs takes me about 3 hours and I do it every 5 or 6 weeks. I've used this clipper for 37 years and have only had to replace it twice. Great product. It does tend to get hot with prolonged use and I have had to replace the blades a few times but I highly recommend this professional grade clipper.

When I researched grooming clippers for my dog there was NO listing (I could see) for the immense weight of this clipper. Needless to say, I did not have the chance to use this clipper due to the weight of the clipper so I cannot give a review for the ease of use. I did turn it on and noted a low noise level and the cord seemed to be long enough to make it easy to maneuver. I kept looking to find a blade of size 3 or 4 but could not find one that is included with this clipper. My arms become tired with any tool that has lots of weight so this clipper would not be good for anyone that cannot handle a heavy clipper. Many dog owners and groomers need a clipper that is not heavy on their arms and hands. I cannot say if I would recommend this clipper due to the facts I have stated here.

This is my second set of Oster A5 golden clippers…the other set has been working for YEARS with only wear and tear issues that are easily remedied…had reached out about replacement for this new set assuming it’s a manufacturer defect issue after such a short time of using…was basically told too bad…frustrating because I love my other set and wanted same as my back up…I guess nothing is as good as original as far as quality! Just buyer beware!

HAVE BEEN USING MY OSTER CLIPPERS FOR 40 YEARS AND IT WAS TIME TO UPDATE THEM. ORDERED THIS ONE AND THE DIFFERENCE WAS THE SPEED AND THE COOLNESS OF THE CLIPPER. I WAS ONE OF THE STARTERS OF THE NATIONAL DOG GROOMERS ASSOCIATION IN N.Y. AND MY GIRLS ONLY USED OSTER CLIPPERS AND BLADES.

I thought if I bought a good set of high dollar clippers, they would cut my golden retriever. I cut him every spring because of the tics, and absolutely will not work. I have had them sharpened, adjusted and done everything humanly possible and they absolutely don’t work.I have bought five different heads and you don’t even want to try anything larger than a 10. I have threes and fives and sevens and nothing will cut.I turned around and bought $150 A6 and it was even worse yet. I spent nearly $600 for the two clippers and all the different heads and still cannot cut my dogs hair.
