Okay...
This pedometer works fairly well, but I'm not sure how accurate it is... I have reset it twice, but it seems to overestimate my steps.

Great multi-purpose fitness tool
I've owned a few cheaper brands from WalMart that seemed to malfunction after several months. So I did some research and decided upon the AE170LX, which I purchased in September 2009, because it is multipurpose, and seemed pretty sturdy. After carefully reading the instructions, I measured my stride, which took about 20 minutes to get right. For about a week after, I tested and re-tested by counting steps and checking the device to ensure it was accurate, and for the most part, it was right on. The problem is, if you measure for a leisurely walk, then go out and power walk with larger steps, it's not accurate, but changing your stride length is easy.I love the steps, distance and calories burned function, which is really helpful in reaching a goal, or walking off the Butterfinger I just ate. And the built-in metal clip really stays onto your pants/shorts quite well. But alas, it doesn't hold up in the washer, so I'm making purchase #2. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it's a bit time consuming to calibrate, and I don't think a lot of people have the patience to get it just right. Once it's right, though, it's smooth sailing.

Ped good, company response poor=none.
I have had the 120XL for yrs and it stopped working [unknown reason] so rather than bother with a repair of the 120 I upgraded to the 170XLG with more features. I received this on Fri afternoon and could not get it to 'start'. Sat. AM I called the phone # on the Ped but that is "no longer in service". I called each of the 2 #'s on the booklets and left messages X3. Sat PM I sent an email to the website- that states "we will get right back to you"..explained I just wanted to know how to make it 'start' for the first time.[ I did received an immediate email that they had received my email>>I guess that was the "quick response"?} Now, figuring that I won't get a response on the week-end I decided to troubleshoot. Since I had new batteries from trying to fix my old one- I put in a new battery to the 170XLG and it worked. I should have guessed this at first since the package arrived 'dirty' [like it had been on the shelf for years] and had to be wiped off before I opened it. So, getting rid of the battery that was "guaranteed for 18 mos" and replacing it with a new one was the answer. I am not really happy with the company response but I have 'faith' that the 170XLG will last me more than 5 yrs as the 120XL did. This AM=SUN: When the 120LX stopped working I replace the battery for the 2nd time since I owned it>>and it didn't work. I figured it was just worn out and order this new 170XL. In the meantime I decided to try a new pack of batteries since I had the other one for years. So, now my old 120XL and my new 170XLG both work with the newer batteries. Bottom line- I was given this ped by a registered 'lets get healthy by walking' type organization and have been very, happy>>happier now that I know it was just the batteries. So, yes I highly reccommend any accusplit pedometer. msm

10 year of pedometers I like this best.
I have been wearing a Pedometer for daily for 10 years. I log my steps every day. This keeps on track with my cardio health.I am not interested in miles walked only 10,000 steps a day (I don't always make it) the step function helps me keep track with I start to slack. I like this one because the buttons are protected and can only be reset on purpose. Also I can open during the day to see how I am doing.

Great little machine, insanely difficult to program
I love this pedometer. It's my second, and has always performed beautifully. However, programming it was a nightmare. I tried but was completely unable to figure the directions out. What they said would happen didn't, which was very confusing. Finally after going to three different electronics shops I got somebody from Radio Shack to do it, and it took him half an hour of muttering and complaining. If not for that problem I'd certainly give it five stars.

Don't waste your money
Does not keep steps correctly, Loud clicking noises with every step.Would NOT recommend this. Spend the extra money and get a Fitbit.
